Bonidy v. USPS

This federal lawsuit seeks to overturn the general ban on possessing firearms in Post Offices or on postal property

Debbie and Tab Bonidy live in rural Colorado and do not have home mail service.  They are required to travel 10 miles round trip to retrieve their mail from their local post office where the postal service provides them with a post office box at no charge.  Both Bonidys are licensed to carry handguns in the state of Colorado.  However, the Bonidys are prevented from carrying handguns for personal protection while traveling to, from, through, or on postal property by 39 CFR 232.1(l).

Supporters:
The Bonidys are represented by James M. Manley of the Mountain States Legal Foundation.  The National Association for Gun Rights are co-plaintiffs.
